I went to watch "Dragon Ball Evolution," despite many bad reviews. I knew the movie will get such reviews since the day I saw the trailer. However, I was "Dragon Ball" fan since I was in primary school and I was waiting for the live action movie. So, I decided to watch it. It was, not good and not bad. It's not the exact same with the manga version.
The movie was about 86 minutes and I did not realize it's too soon until the movie ends. In this movie, Goku goes to high school and his grandfather (Gohan) was alive but not for long. Justin Chatwin was the good choice to play Goku but the role he played was not the real Goku. The same comment goes to the other characters.
The visual effects for the energy waves are okay and for the dragon, I expected something better. Before going for the movie, I was actually thinking about the dragon. =D
This movie is not realistic, I think it can be classified as fantasy and fun. The storyline, it's too normal and most scenes are not original. I thought it should be an action movie but there are not much action and the ending is too fast and predictable. Humors are there but not humorous. Anyway, the good thing about this movie, it's motivating. That's all.
There's an additional scenes which gives clue that there will be sequel. Jamie Chung confirmed it during an interview by MTV. I hope in the next sequel, it will be much better and the production company to consider the critical reviews of this movie.
Rating: 5/10

Good review. I know that it will be just an average film. I think I’ll better watch it on the DVD.

I think Dragon Ball fans need to not expect this movie to be faithful to the original manga storyline and appreciate its new twist in order to not be too disappointed too much with the movie.

Lina - True, they should look at it as hollywood fiction and fantasy movie instead of an anime live action movie.
