Michael Jackson's King Of Pop

It has arrived! I mean the CD package has arrived, sent via courier by Sony Music. I ordered it through their online store, total cost was about RM44.90 which came with an unexpected nice MJ black T-Shirt. I ordered on Monday morning and I received it on Thursday afternoon. =D

Before I found Sony Online store, I thought to use Amazon for the first time but it's way too expensive. I do not spent money on original CDs except for Linkin Park. Anyway, there has been some exception which now includes MJ's King of Pop. Hehe.

The whole CD package themed in black and red colour. The lyrics book contains some of MJ's best shots. The first page has MJ's youth photo with printed autograph. By the way, I was just looking through.

I have not finish listening yet. I only played few random tracks and I'm loving the songs. There are 2 CD's with 31 tracks. According to the album, it's released in celebration of Michael Jackson's 50th birthday. It's the first-ever collection with tracks voted by fans. Here are the tracks listed:

Michael Jackson's This Is It

Have lot of work to do and I'm having lack of sleep, yet I put off everything aside to watch this movie. What made it special? It runs only for 2 weeks and I do not want to miss the final curtain call which the world is witnessing. I'm not huge fan of Michael Jackson (MJ) yet I watched this movie because it's him, he inspires people to inspire others.

I have not seen any MJs footages or interviews. I know him for the song I have heard, for his fame and of course, the mysteries. This movie took me closer to know MJ, who turns out to be completely different and more than I thought he is.

I have not even seen any MJ's official music videos and if the moviegoers haven't either, they will find the "Earth Song" is the most touching part in the movie. The video they shot for it was beautiful and so does the song! It showed MJ cares about the planet Earth and it's the reason he wrote the song. By the way, if he's alive, I think he would go through hard time watching what's happening not only in his life but the natures too.

I love the "Smooth Criminal" part of the movie, it's the best one. Actually, besides Thriller, it's the only song I have in my playlist. Once I got back from watching the movie, I looked for MJ CD's online. After scrolling through one website for his complete discography, I have decided going to get his CD entitled King of Pop, which contains the studio version of the songs in the rehearsal. Now, that goes to the current wish list, hehe.

"This Is It" is the concert which had marvelous rehearsal and masterpiece music, yet it's the concert never happen. It's how Sony described the rehearsal footage and bought it for 60 million dollars. Out of that, came this big screen musical movie, edited from 100 hours of the whole set. The concert suppose to go live at London's O2 Arena.

Before the movie got released formally, premiers has been held on selected locations around the globe. The best premier was in Los Angeles, CA. The reason was because there was Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, Paula Abdul, Ashley Tisdale (I'm not High School Musical fan! Though it has the same director) and more others. Two of the best people there was Jennifer Love Hewitt with Jamie Kennedy, I saw the photos showing them wearing MJ T-Shirts. The Los Angeles premier was held on Oct 27, 2009. I watched the movie here at local cinema in Malaysia, on Oct 29. In London, Westlife attend the British premier.

It's not only MJ caught the audience attention in this movie. It's the whole crew involved in the rehearsal. They were all perfectionist, especially the male and female guitarist. If you had them in one rock band, you can surely blast off. =D

By the way, the female guitarist was hot and incredible! Her name is Orianthi Panagaris and she's Greek-Australian guitarist. She even has her own songs, quite nice. Together with the other crew, they sang during MJ's memorial. It was beautiful and can be watched in YouTube.

The first thing I hate in this movie is MJ's collection of wardrobe. There's too much blinking stuff and it's all made specially for MJ? Oh it's really annonying to see those stuff. The second thing was, certain footages are not in good quality. It's still acceptable because they were not meant for movie filming.

Despite all that MJ's gone through in his life including aging, he still sang well and danced like he always does. His performance always remarkable, it's why people love to watch him.

Hmm, at least I'm glad MJ had the chance to spent time around people who loves and cares about him (the crews) before he was gone. Those people respect MJ and their life became so meaningful for them, for being able to work together with MJ on the stage. They are like one family and live by Love. Exactly the way MJ wanted. :)

MJ left the world in June 25. Since then, he has made 90 million dollars. Higher than Elvis Presley, who made 55 million dollars since he passed away.

I'm not into Pixar (or animation) movies. It's my first experience with them in cinema. The only reason I went to watch was because it received higher rating than most summer movies. Good to my surprise, it's truly wonderful movie to watch.

The movie starts with good introduction. It taught me about appreciation. According to the director, Peter Docter: Basically, the message of the film is that the real adventure of life is the relationship we have with other people and it's so easy to lose sight of the things we have and the people that are around us until they're gone. More often than not I do not really realize how lucky I was to have known someone until they're either moved or passed away. So if you can kind of wake up a little bit and go, "Wow, I've got some really cool stuff around me every day," then that's what the movie's about.

Back to the movie review, the movie has amazing adventure. As it goes, it gets better. The comedies are hilarious. An elder and child, both are funny, makes the movie fun to watch. The voices and music are excellent and the most beautiful element are the visuals.

This movie is the most heart touching animation movie I have ever seen. It contains both happiness and sadness. If anyone watch this movie in cinema and does not feel such thing, I will wonder if they have heart or not, LOL. It's not only for young age, this movie is for adults too and they will appreciate it more than child would do.

Everything's okay except talking dogs, they can even fly planes! I hate movies with talking animals, though my favorite childhood cartoon was Disney's "The Lion King." Those talking dogs took away realism from the movie. Good thing the movie was too fun to think too much about reality and fantasy.

There are plenty of lessons to learn from this movie. I got four!:

  1. Only detachment from materials and letting go the past can bring happiness.
  2. Everything change, it's how we react to it that matters.
  3. For every loss, there will be something to gain and for every gain, there will be something to loss. Just have to look hard enough.
  4. Time spent with loved ones, no matter how it was spent, those are the most valuable memories in life.

Thanks for the adventure. Now go have one of your own. – Ellie

P.S. I wish I had beautiful childhood dream. If you have, go chase after it. =)

Public Enemies

Although it's set in 1933, it's quite good and better than other movies which are "based on book with 1930's setting." This movie ran for more than 2 hours, I felt sleepy yet I was awake. Mainly because of the cinematography. The movie was shot in high-definition (HD).

The reason I went for this movie is to see the combination of Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. Christian Bale did not make any Batman voice, so that's good. Both of them did great, everyone knows Johnny Depp can take on any role for his talent. He got some great lines throughout the movie.

I heard this movie is based on true story and the book is non fiction. However, this movie is not accurate enough with the real story and personality. That's the most said complain from those that gave bad ratings. Well, either it's true or not, I do not want to watch history in cinema, I want entertainment and this movie has it.

Everything is 1930 in this movie, it takes the audience back to 1930's Chicago. It's good enough to look real. There are songs in this movie, sounds like music of 1930's. It might fit well but I do not like it much.

Another special element in this movie, it has wonderful love story. It's very deep and true. I'm quite impressed on that part. John does his best to keep his love to remain forever.

The actions are great, there are plenty of gun shoots unlike from other movies from the same kind. The sounds are awesome. This movie contains strong violence and the cinema really strict with the rating of this movie. It seems they seriously will not allow under 18 for this movie because of the content.
